Aadhavan - Movie Review

“A killer is trying to kill a magistrate for money”. K.S.Ravikumar’s masala and Surya’s recent consistency added to that fancy one liner is Aadhavan. I usually don’t write a conventional review. There are better reviews like that on net. Let me write just a 10 mark essay about the movie :) 1 mark for each point ;)

1. Surya
The crowd was pulled only by showing Surya’s face.
Even I went only for him believing that he had done a good job atleast like Ayan though not like Vaaranam Aayiram. Not a Surya like that. This Surya is something like Perazhagan villan surya. No big scope for him. It is well established that Surya wants to do movies like Ayan, Aadhavan, Singam etc. and utilize the 6 packs he developed for VA. Titles a paakum podhu varuthama irundhudhu. Edhukku Surya ungalukkum heroism? Surya, please remember that we are expecting something else for you. Ungala Kamalin vaarisa paakarom. Pera kaapaathunga.


2. Nayanthara
There are directors who can show even an ordinary girl as a beautiful angel. KSR is opposite to that. The heroines in his movie will always be less beautiful than what they are in other movies [remember Simran(natpukkaga), Meena (Muthu) etc.?] . Aadhavan is no exception. Nayanthara was looking ordinary. Nayanthara we are expecting a lot from you too ;)


3. Vadivelu
He is the hero of the movie. Only because of him I was able to see the movie. Wonderful performance. If Surya is the crowd puller, Vadivelu is the crowd retainer. He would be the main reason if this movie becomes a hit

4. Saroja Devi
Kooptu kalaachirukaanga. Saroja devia Vadivelu nalla otti irukkaru. I always hated Saroja devi for her ‘konjal pechu’. So she adds to the irritation in this movie.

5. Anand Babu
Real surprise. Are you alive man? Thanks to KSR for bringing back hidden people like him. I hope to see him in many more films.


6. Other cast
Shayaji Shinde, Rahul Dev, Murali, Anuhaasan, Riyaz khan, Ramesh Kanna…The list goes on. So many characters and all come for some time to make the movie a 2.5 hour one.

7. Music
As all of us know that with 7 swaras tons and tons of tunes were and are composed. Similarly, Harris can compose tons and tons of songs with just few tunes. I don’t know how he manages to do that and that too successfully. Songs are not bad but, for sure, a show stopper. Most of the songs were just forced on audience.


8. Graphics of Surya as 10 yr old child
Though the graphic was not nearing perfection, I appreciate the idea and efforts put to bring that. Hope to see many more efforts like that with perfect output.

9. Cinematography
This is another factor that saved movie. Showed some fresh outdoor spots.

10. K.S.Ravikumar
You too became like Perarasu? Why to put photo and all during titles? Don’t we know your face? Adhaan vanakkam sollikittu epdium kadaisila vandhuruveengale! No offense with KSR. He did his job of adding masala well.


So how is the movie all together? It is better than any recent past Vijay or Ajith movie but not good like previous Surya movies. Ayan was way better than Aadhavan. It is time for Surya to re-think about his trajectory.
