Naanayam - Movie Review

The trailer of the movie was very good. But it was unfortunate that all the good scenes were put in the trailer.

The expectation was a fast and thrilling first half and may be a boring and slow 2nd half. But the movie was very boring during first half and relatively less boring during 2nd half.

The story is new to Tamil. But screenplay is old model. There are many bank robbery English movies. Director could have copied some scenes from them properly and given a good entertainer.

Prasanna is a good actor and he is perfect in this movie too. He is a promising young actor!

I was expecting a surprise from Sibiraj. But he is not good even as a villain. He tried to imitate his father as a 'casual villain' but couldn't reproduce even 10%. 'Sibiraj is not fit for acting'. Hence proved! :)

SPB. No scope for him too.

Heroine waste. Chumma edhaavadhu side role pannalam!

Other characters are not even worth mentioning.

The songs were sounding like OK type. But in the movie, it was a complete show stopper. Audience were just pissed off when each song came.

I would say, it is a good decision to have chosen Thaman for BGM though some pieces were recycled ones.

The director would have got encouraged by the success of 'Eeram'. But with a slippery screenplay, it became another mokkai movie.

Watch this movie if you are also 'vetti' like me ;)

Let me end with a positive note.I liked the message which the movie was trying to say.


"Illegal relationship with a woman and Relationship with an illegal woman. Both are dangerous" :)

Kutty - Movie Review

Even the original telugu movie Arya didn't inspire me a lot.

So obviously, watching this movie was one boring 2:30 hrs for me.

They need not have taken xerox copy of the original. Frame by frame replica. Tamil cinema industry is known for fresh thoughts. Please don't spoil our name.

Dhanush is one actor known for doing some intelligent chap kind of roles. Indha nalla payyan role lam suit aagala. But by all means, he is not irritating.

The newcomer Sameer is good. But I am worrying if he will also become some one like Abbas or Kunal :P

I always felt, Shreya is a heroine who can just be used for glamorous roles. Some homely looking heroine would have been a better choice.

Comedian. One expert comedian would have come in handy.

Devi Sri Prasad has done lot of recycling work. All tunes and BGMs are heard ones.

Regarding story, screenplay stuffs. We have seen a lot like this in old Tamil movies. 1980s had a lot of romantic movies like this.

On the whole, Kutty is one boring movie. May be, with family, if you want to see some recent movie, you can go for this.

Ayirathil Oruvan - Movie review

I don't want to reveal the plot and spoil the suspense.

What a movie!!!!

One of the best movies I have ever seen!!

This movie will entertain and also educate you.

We should be proud to see such movies coming from India and that too from Tamil cinema industry!!!

Kudos to Selvaraghavan!!

Karthi's is entertaining. Reema sen is the most important character in the movie. Andrea is silent beauty. And finally Parthiban. A surprise package.

Songs are already hit. Even the BGMs are good.

Cinematography is just par excellence. This man Ramji deserves all awards!

This movie is beyond ratings.Sheer hard work. A must watch!

Please watch this movie in theatres and encourage this kind of works.

At least I am seeing it multiple times in theatres! :)

Vettaikaran - Movie Review

With all bashings through SMS and emails, Vettaikaaran got released. I got the precious [:P] opportunity to see the film today. No disappointments. The movie is as bad as expected. So how bad is it? Lets see the bad things one by one [:)]

Story
All old stuff. Vijay coming to chennai. Some rowdies there. Vijay fighting with them.... Hooof. Same crap.

Anushka
There were guys who went to theatres expecting something(!!!!???) from her. Complete disappointment. She is not a good looking heroine in the movie. No scope even in songs. Cha Cha. Engal ilaignargal saabam ungala chumma vidaadhu Anushka.[;)]

Songs
Actually the songs are hit. But they were not positioned properly except 'Puli urumbudhu'. Audience were sleeping during 'Chinna Thaamarai' song. Vijay's hair style in that!!!! He he. Enga oor la oru paithiyakaaran, pathu varushama thalaikku ennavaikkaama kulikkaama suthikittu iruppan. Vijay was looking exactly like him in that song.

Villains
Again, old stuffs. I was expecting something different from Salim Ghouse (Vetri Vizha, Chinna gounder fame). Avarayum dummy aakitaangale!!!!!

Comedy
Sema mokka. Even Rajinikanth haves some good comedians as support for him. Vijaye ellathaym pannanumna epdi? Vadivelu's presence was deliberately neeeded in the movie.

Sun Pictures
I am a Sun Pictures hater. Now I start hating it even more. I don't know how am I going to control myself from beaking the television while seeing "Tamizhagamengum ippozhudhu paaparapaaga pesapattu kondiruppadhu Sun pictures vazhangi Vijay naditha Vettaikaaran Thiraipadam. Vetri nadai podugiradhu" in SUN News.

Vijay
Here comes our hero. Avan thirundha mattaan. Thirundhave mattan. I don't know when he is going to realise that even his fans are frustrated with the same type of movies. Actually, Vijay is one talented hero. Good dancing skills. Wonderful comedy timing sense. Good style. But he is trying his level best to use all of them to give consecutive bad movies. Keep the good(!?) work going, Vijay!

Vijay, Ajith and Simbu. 3 Idiots who are pulling Tamil industry down.

So, what's the verdict? Vettaikaaran is a MUST WATCH MOVIE 

What(???????????!!!!!!!!!!!)

Yes, Must watch movie for Vijay haters. Your hatred will be justified once again. [:P]

Peranmani - Movie Review

This is a brilliant movie. It was more than my expectation. Theatre was House-Full. Nice to see people encouraging movies like this.

Jeyam Ravi has done a great job. Good homework. Typical forest officer from tribal community.

5 girls. They have done a decent job. A good amount of importance given to them.

The movie was taking a different trajectory in first half showing "girls' world" ( like Shankar showed Boys' world) and so many muted dialogues. But later, the movie was in track and from then, movie went at jet-speed.

Sateesh Kumar (Cinematography). No one in Tamil industry has shown forest, hills and rivers like you.Wonderful!

Jananathan (Director). This man is a wonderful director. Hats off for his hard work. Jananathan is known for showcasing things which were not touched erstwhile in Tamil cinema like harbour,sea life in Iyarkai; bio war in ee and now it is about hills,forests,tribes,rocket launch,girls' world in Peranmai. He is successful in educating the audience.

This movie could have been taken even better. But I am not asking anything more :) It is far better than Aadhavan and Kanden Kadhalai.

Good movie Jananathan!

Kanden Kadhalai - Movie Review

I went to theatre with high expectation that the movie will be very fresh. But disappointment at last!

Bharath just don't know what to do. He just stands dumb. He got confused whether to act the same way like Shahid Kapoor or be original. In that confusion, he didn't do anything. Bharath is still looking childish. He can act manu more Chellames. He dances like a good side actor (side dancer). He is not dancing like a hero.

Tamanna's negative is her face, especially mouth. This movie was showing her mouth very closely. Acting wise, she has done a decent job. If not Jyothika or Jenilia, only Tamanna fits in.

Sapan Saran as Tamanna's relative girl Roja. Vera nalla moonji kidaikkalaya ungalukku? Saranya Mohan would have fitted or even some other new south indian girl would have been perfect.

Sathanam is the hero of movie. Trying to replace Koundamani void and he is almost successful. Briliant timing!

Vidyasagar's songs were not bad. But the songs were show-stopper in the movie. The theatre shouted "Iyyo Paatta?" before each song.

Sun Pictures. Another bad movie from their banner. But they would some how make it a HIT. I hate Sun Pictures like anything

Pazhassi Raja - Movie Review

Movies like this are not taken just for making money. So much efforts and pains. Such works should be applauded and they should become block buster. I am happy that Pazhassi Raja has become a hit. I am looking forward for its reception in other languages too.

Aadhavan - Movie Review

“A killer is trying to kill a magistrate for money”. K.S.Ravikumar’s masala and Surya’s recent consistency added to that fancy one liner is Aadhavan. I usually don’t write a conventional review. There are better reviews like that on net. Let me write just a 10 mark essay about the movie :) 1 mark for each point ;)

The crowd was pulled only by showing Surya’s face.

Eeram - Movie Review

It is very unfortunate that I saw it in Thiruttu DVD. What can I do? It is removed from Bangalore screens in a week and not at all released in Hosur. I can't travel to Chennai for seeing this movie. So sorry 'Eeram team'!

This is the best movie I have seen after Nadodigal.

1. Aadhi - Not a mirugam now :) A very polite police role and beautifully done by him. Eagerly waiting to see, how the directors are going to use him in future movies

2. Nanda - Done his role perfectly. I personally don't like 'Doubting husband' role. That is what Nanda is doing in this movie.

3. Sindhu Menon - A matured role both as a lover of Aadhi and wife of Nanda. She grabs the entire attention during first half. Nice romantic track between her and Aadhi.

4. Saranya Mohan - My favorite. I love her (Ponnu Iyengar a? :P ). She is looking younger than in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. She has a reasonable amount of role in this movie but not enough for her fans like me. I can see her alone in a 3 hr movie :)

5. Music - Thaman : Dei Boys Gundupayya! neeya da music lam podra? :P Though the songs are not great, BGM is too good. BGM is more important in these kind of movies and Thaman has done a good job.

6. Cinematography - Manoj Paramahamsa : It appears like you have done a great job. But I can't appreciate much since I didn't see in theatre

7. Story, Screenplay, Direction - Arivazhagan : "Believe your wife the same way you believe your mother". I think, this is the message they are trying to say. Even 'Dindukkal Sarathy' kinda tried to say the same but with comedy base. I hated Dindukkal Sarathy. But we have to appreciate Arivazhagan for choosing thriller as a base for this story. Very gripping screenplay. Hats off! We should appreciate Shankar for exposing such talented people in his productions.

I liked the movie 'Yaavarum Nalam'. This movie is better than that.


Eeram is a must watch movie. Please encourage movies like this.

Kandasamy - Movie Review

Already the internet reviews have torn apart Kandasamy into pieces. Let me tear it a little more.

My friends went to this movie on first day and advised me not to go that movie. Even I decided not to watch. I wanted to watch Eeram. All the Bangalore theatres removed eeram from screen. So I went to Hosur yesterday. But it is pity that it was not at all released in Hosur.

So no other go, I went to Kandasamy with zero expectation. Even then I couldn't tolerate that movie.

Few things which irritated me a lot

1. Vikram Intro : Edhukku ya seval? ko ko kokkago! Vikram a asinga paduthara maadhiri irundhudhu. Even Villain and Shreya's intros were nice. Eagle would have been a better choice.

2. Skin Show: Shreya could have done this separately and leaked it as scandal video in net. The desired audience would have seen. Why get a U certificate, draw in family audience with children and make them uncomfortable? "Story ku theva patta glamour a nadikkardhu thappu illa". Adhaana solla poreenga? Podha kuraikku Mumaith Khan vera

3. BGM: Songs were Ok. But BGMs were very amateurish. Devi Sri Prasad, you need not become Ilayaraja. But atleast try to make up some how like Harris, Yuvan.

4. So called Comedy : Padu mokka da saami. Such a big budget movie. All are waiting to watch it. How can Susi Ganesan keep a separate comedy track which no way mixes with movie? Susi ganesan must at least learn 'How to use comedy as advantage?' from Shankar.

5. Story: What a big deal? Plagiarism is not a crime at least in cinema. Take samples from Gentleman, Sivaji, Anniyan, Ramana etc. and mix them. Susi Ganesan should have been a good (or bad?) chemist.

6. Screenplay: Poor to the core. The movie should have ended 20 mins after intermission.

7. Direction: Lot of hard work done for nothing. All money wasted. Dhanu could have better given it to Murugadoss or would have produced many movies with Sasikumar, Samuthrakani, Pandiraj etc.

Even after several bad reviews, the balcony was full. Mystery!!

Whatever it may be, even I am joining the 'Nondhasamy' group.

Ninaithale Inikkum - Movie Review

I always wanted to avoid 'Sun Pictures' movie but I somehow watched all their movies :(

First thing I hated was to see Prithviraj and America Maapla Karthik in rough roles. Didn't suit at all.

Adding to the erichal is Priyamani. Both acting and her voice is like a guy.

It is always comfortable to handle college subject. The director could have made the first half really interesting. But it was like copy paste of earlier college stories right from 80s.

Music by Vijay Antony is not bad though some of them (eg: sexy lady) were not at all needed in movie. Like everyone, Azhagai Pookudhe is my pick of the album.

Except for the little twist in second half, the movie is worth not watching.

I would wish to share some of my thoughts about this film

• Sasikumar: Great going. He has suceeded as director (Subramaniyapuram), producer(Pasanga) and actor (Subramaniyapuram, Nadodigal). Oh man! You have created a lot of expectations. We will be expecting more from you in the next ventures.
  

• Ananya : She is Sasikumar's lover. The director might have expected her to act cute. But she has acted more than what is expected . Over-acting.

• Abhinaya : She is Sasikumar's sister. I was surprised to know that she is physically disabled (deaf and mute). She has done a great job and is beautiful too. No lip sync problem. No one would even believe this. Kudos to director for the challenge he took and thanks for not trying to advertise this.

• Vijay (Vasanth & Co) : There was a big digital banner for him in Manjunatha theatre, Hosur. Yes, he has acted well. But banner lam romba over. Appa kaasa kari aakkadheenga Vijay!

• Bharani : He is the prime-comedian. The scenes where he loses his hearing power really makes us feel sympathetic. But konjam over-acting.
  

• Ganja Karuppu : Short and sweet role. He has given 100% output.

• Sundar C Babu (Music) : Songs are not upto the mark. Sambo Siva Sambo theme is the backbone of film. He need not give grand orchestrated music for all scenes. First half had lot of unnecessary background music.

• Samuthrakani (Director) : He takes the whole credit. What a movie! A great try and it is well-executed. Audience will surely encourage if you try movies like this. But you need not have put these songs. They stopped the flow. May be, one good melody(like kangal iranda) would have been sufficient.
  

• All reviews say that the second half is slow. According to me, 2nd half is the essence of film. The explanation regarding initial marriage life, failure of love and arranged marriages, betrayal by friends etc are great. Hats off for those scenes.

All together, Nadodigal is a must watch movie. See it with your friends or family or even alone. It suits all type of audience.

Masilamani - Koduma da sami

We friends here in iiitb have watched a lot of worst movies in theatre. But i was not blogging then. So i had to write about Masilamani having started a blog.

Myself, Jithu, Bala and Anenth planned to go for a movie.

We had 'Maayaandi Kudumbathar', 'Masilamani' and 'Muthirai' in our mind.

We decided to go for night show and thought of choosing the film after seeing the posters. We went to Hosur.

I read reviews about those movies before-hand. Masilamani's review was good. (Mavane reviewer. Nee mattum en kaila maattina unna kaima panniduven).

So with my recommendation, we all decided to go for 'Maasilamani' film.

Nakul's big cut-outs and posters invited us. Ada paavingala! Nakulkellam Rasigar Mandrama? I had a very bad opinion about Nakul after seeing 'Kadhalil Vizhundhen'. I was puzzled on seeing those cut-outs. Ivangale cut-out vechukaraangalo.

Ticket was Rs.50/-. Konjam over dhan.

We reached theatre only at 9:45 while the show started at 9:30 itself. Thank God! Our wastage of time got down by 15 mins.

We were invited by the 'Chiku CHiku Boom Boom' song. What a music! What a beautiful step using the hand! Appove thala vali aarambichuduchu.

Nakul is an important person in a colony. (you can think of Kamal haasan (Nayagan) in that Bombay kuppam as analogy). Apdi oru mukkiamaana aalaam Nakul. Kettale pathindu varala?

Mr.Nakul! Do dome comedy roles like what you did in Boys. Enga usura vaangaadha.

The heroine (Adhe 'Kadhalil vizhundhen' dead body dhan) can do some sister roles. But Nakul ku avale jaasthi.

Nakul is pretending to the heroine like double characters, one Maasi (rowdy am, Iyyo!)and Mani (Nallavanam, Iyyo Iyyo Iyyo!).

The heroine loves Mani and hates Maasi. Wow! What a thinking by director! :P

A police (Heroine's murai payyan) tries to prove that Mani and Maasi are same. Ungalukku vera velai illaya Inspector?

In between there are villains like real estate owner, MLA.

All will get defeated by Nakul. Namba mudiavillai Illai Illai.

How will heroine react after knowing that Maasi and Mani are one and the same? That is the climax. A must watch climax. Kattayam bayangarama sirippu varum.

We enjoyed the second half of film since it had lot of scope for us to mock at. Bayangarama comment adichom. We hope that there was no Nakul fan out there :P

'Lollu' Sandhaanam is the only person who did a decent job.

Karunas - M.S.Bhaskar comedy. Padu mokka! Karunas is known for some mokkais. MS.Bhaskar, Neengaluma?

Mother of heroine. Bayangara over acting.

Father of heroine, Delhi Ganesh. Avar mattum enna? Hopeless.

I will accept everything. But a scene where Delhi Ganesh says that 'Dinakaran is a newspaper with lot of informations and he is forced to close the paper because the next day paper has come' is too too too much.

We all know the standard of Dinakaran.

Edhukku Maran Brothers ungalukku indha kevalamaana pozhappu?

Except Ayan, can you claim a good movie from your banner?

Endhiran padathayum kutti sevura akidadheenga!
